What is the travel distance from the hostel to the University or Tafe?

Deakin Uni – Burwood Campus : Bus 767, approx. 10-15 minutes
Swinburne Uni – Hawthorn Campus : Tram or train, approx. 20-30 minutes
Box Hill Institute of Tafe : approx. 5-10 minutes on the tram, approx. 10-15 minute walk
Holmsglen Tafe – Chadstone Campus : Bus 903, approx. 25-30 minutes

Can I stay for 6 months or longer?

Do I have to pay extra on gas, electricity & water bills?

No, all gas, electricity and water bills are included in the accommodation fees.
Is there a foreign exchange office near the hostel?

Yes, there is once in Box Hill Central or alternatively, you could exchange at banks, although there will be a minimal surcharge fee.

As a living suburb, what does Box Hill resemble?

Box Hill is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, 14km east of Melbourne’s central business district. Its local government area is the City of Whitehorse. The suburb has the second largest retail and office precinct outside of the Melbourne CBD. It has become very multicultural and as a result, has a diverse range of restaurants and cafes

Box Hill hospital serves Box Hill and its surrounding suburbs. The Epworth Eastern Private Hospital was recently completed next to the Box Hill Hospital

Box Hill is also a major transport hub for the city of Whitehorse and surrounding suburbs. Box Hill railway station is located under the Box Hill Central shopping centre and is served by the Belgrave and Lilydale line services. The complex also includes a large bus terminal linking commuters to a variety of destinations across the eastern suburbs. Tram route 109 runs along Whitehorse Road to Port Melbourne via the city.
How do I get to S.A.V. from the airport

Option 1 : Skybus runs between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne City Centre, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service runs every 10 minutes and takes 20 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre. One trip is $17, return trip is $28. The bus will take you to Southern Cross Station, the either the Lilydale or Belgrave train line and get off at Box Hill Station. It will only be a 10-minute walk from the station to S.A.V.

Option 2 : Airport Bus Dandenong provides a shuttle service between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne’s South-Eastern suburbs. The service runs seven days a week, with reduced frequency on Saturdays and Sundays. Bookings are essential from most pick-up locations. Option 3 : Taxi fare from the airport to S.A.V. will be approximately AUD$90
